Keystone Mercy Awards Scholarships to 43 Members

Employee-Sponsored Program Helps Medical Assistance Members in Philadelphia, Bucks, Montgomery, Chester and Delaware Counties Advance Their Educations

June 18, 2008
Philadelphia, PA
– Forty-three Medical Assistance recipients received scholarships today from Keystone Mercy Health Plan to continue their education and improve their lives.

The Keystone Mercy Member Scholarship program is completely funded by employee donations. The program provides assistance to young adults embarking on a college education and non-traditional students coming back to school later in life to learn a new skill. Many have overcome significant challenges including disability, poverty and even civil war to get their education and improve their lives.

This year, more than 300 people attended the event to honor the winners and celebrate the program’s 20th anniversary. Since it started with one scholarship in 1988, the program has to date awarded more than 650 scholarships, totaling nearly $1.5 million.
